Ovechkin Suspended 3 Games for hit

Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin has been suspended for three games for a charging incident in which he launched himself to hit Pittsburgh defenseman Zbynek Michalek during Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Penguins.
It is the third time in the past three seasons Ovechkin has been suspended by the league for hits the league deemed dangerous. Ovechkin has also been fined twice. |

For the Washington Capitals there remain a lot of questions if the team will ever get back to winning. Coach Bruce Boudreau must not only reconnect with the teams star, Alex Ovechkin, but a disinterested locker room as well. The cords of disconnect run deep in Washington.

After getting blown out 7 to 1 by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals’ Coach Bruce Boudreau job is on the hot seat.
A month ago, no one would have predicted such talk but with the Capitals expected to make a strong push for the Stanley Cup this year, a four game winless streak and a record of 1-5-1 in the last six games and 3-7-1 in the past 11 have set the tongues to waging. |
