Jagr to Western Canada?
Posted by Rangerblue on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 @ 19:34:06 EST (1211 reads)
Oilers Kyle writes "This has been excerpted from TSN.ca

The Edmonton Oilers are denying a local report that Jaromir Jagr is close to joining the team.

According to the Edmonton Journal, a source says Jagr is close to finalizing a deal that would see him join the Oilers for the remainder of the season. However Jagr, who is playing with Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, would have to clear waivers before returning to the NHL.

The source would not divulge how soon Jagr would join the Oilers, how much the deal would be worth or the length of the rumoured contract.

Now that defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky is out for the season with a shoulder injury, the Oilers have enough room under the slary cap to accomodate such a move.

Currently, the Oilers sit in ninth place in the Western Conference, just behind the Vancouver Canucks and the eighth and final playoff spot."

What's next for the Oilers?

Oilers oilers_cup_2009 writes "Edmonton is very close to the cap right now sitting at 54.309 and only leaving about 2.2 million cap left. I have heard many rumors from other websites that edmonton could still be looking for a trade to improve the team. Edmonton's new owner Darryl Katz has really been pushing K-Lowe to make some more moves to improve the hockey team and Lowe could look for a move sometime after the Arbitration hearings. "

Oilers lock up their heart and soul
Posted by Rangerblue on Thursday, July 17, 2008 @ 14:13:23 EDT (627 reads)
Oilers antmonkey writes "Edmonton has signed Shawn Horcoff to a 6 year $33 M (5.5 M cap hit). For a 1st line center, that was almost on a pt/game pace until he got hurt last season... that's a steal considering some of the massive contracts handed out so far this summer. Granted, his health has been somewhat suspect over the past two seasons, but he doesn't have any control over that kinda stuff"
