The Edmonton Oilers are denying a local report that Jaromir Jagr is close to joining the team.
According to the Edmonton Journal, a source says Jagr is close to finalizing a deal that would see him join the Oilers for the remainder of the season. However Jagr, who is playing with Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, would have to clear waivers before returning to the NHL.
The source would not divulge how soon Jagr would join the Oilers, how much the deal would be worth or the length of the rumoured contract.
Now that defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky is out for the season with a shoulder injury, the Oilers have enough room under the slary cap to accomodate such a move.
Currently, the Oilers sit in ninth place in the Western Conference, just behind the Vancouver Canucks and the eighth and final playoff spot.
Jagr could probably push Edmonton into the post-season for sure, but could he get them past teams like Detroit or San Jose?

Why would JJ want to play in Edmonton?
I can't see him coming out West. Also don't know why anybody would voluntarily play in the Siberia of North America.

On a different topic, where are all those people who wouldn't believe me that Colorado's goaltending will be their downfall?
Antmonkey, Avswillwin, BigT, etc. Where are you?
Also, I told you Raycroft sucks. At least one of you told me he was only bad because the Leafs suck. Well how did Raycroft do with the Avs? How was his GAA? How was his save pct? CHECK THE STATS!!! How did he do? I want to know what you think now.
