Merry Christmas

Maple Leafs Dear Santa,

Thank-you for all the suprises I've received since last year. I especially enjoyed John Ferguson Jr. getting fired because he was completely clueless and trading Bryan McCabe. With all due respect to Bryan it was time for him to move on and get a fresh start. Florida is a nice sunny place so it worked out for everyone.

The gift of Cliff Fletcher was also greatly appreciated. He did a fantastic job as the Leafs interim GM and freed up millions in cap space for the team moving forward and acquired some real assets for the club. However, I would most like to thank-you for Luke Schenn at the draft and Brian Burke as an early present this year.

Schenn is a true building block and franchise defenceman that the team has lacked for as long as I've been writing to you. Kaberle is still my favourite defenceman so please don't let him be traded! Finally, I'd like to thank you for visiting early this year and giving me Brian Burke. He has built competitive teams before and knows the game better than most from a management perspective, I have total confidence that he will turn the team into a contender some years down the road.

For this year, I would like to ask for a new home jersey to replace the horribly plain blue pajamas that the Leafs wear now and two blue stripes on their white sweaters. I would also like a true #1 center (John Tavares would be perfect) and an enforcer to bring some Burke feel to the team. If it is not too much trouble I would also like another top six forward because Nik Antropov is NOT a go to guy and should never be. Jason Blake is also playing better so maybe now would be a good time to trade him? Please pass that message along to Burkie for me. Thanks.

Signed,
Your Friend,
Trevor

P.S. I'll be sure to leave you some popcorn and pizza from the Air Canada Center, as long as I can still afford it.

Note: What is your letter to Santa? Send it in and it will get posted

You know I never really looked at it that way, but Toronto is moving in the right direction.

A few more "good riddance's" and you're well on your way to full time rebuilding.

Trevor, you do know that JFJ didn't trade McCabe, Fletcher did. Fletcher also traded picks to get Hollweg and Mayers. Hardly his brightest moves.

What's the over/under on Burke trading yet another 2nd round pick away?
