Say what you want about Linden, but nobody can deny that he IS the Canucks.
He may not be top ten on any offensive category, but Trevor Linden was the embodiment of the Vancouver Canucks. When he left the team, there were obvious differences for both sides. Linden didn't have as much success in New York, Montreal or Washington, and the Canucks didn't compete again until he returned. Linden and this organization were perfect for each other, and it's great to see him memorialized in this way.
I'm tired of people only giving credit to the guys who score tons of points. I love seeing guys like Linden, Wendel Clark, Ken Daneyko, Scott Stevens, Dale Hunter, etc get their recognition. Not many fans realize the impact that players like these have on their teams. Every successful team needs a heart and soul guy, they guy that every player is afraid to disappoint. The guy that will always take the hit to make the play, or give a hit to keep opponents looking over their shoulders. These players may not be the points leaders on their teams, but they're the glue that keeps the team together and the passion that emanates from these players is infectious to those around them. Any player that played with any of those guys would probably tell you that these players made their teams care about what they were doing on the ice, every shift.

Linden was always one of my favourite players. It tore me apart when he played for Montreal because I always wanted to see him do well but its the Canadiens.
Anyway, It's great to see Vancouver honour a guy as deserving as him!

Like Jim Hughson said last night a great player and teammate, but an even better person. I do not think you can get a better compliment than that.

Great community guy, solid player and the highlights of the Canucks run in 1994 would not be the same with out Linden.
