The Colorado Avalanche and What Could Be...

With Smyth gone the complete rebuild has begun. Duchene will most likely go back to juniors as he hasn’t signed a contract yet. I have the projected line-up as of now but I expect more changes to be made as we try to get younger still. I would think just about everyone is on the block except for Stastny and Quincey of course.

Jagr to Western Canada?

This has been excerpted from TSN.ca

The Edmonton Oilers are denying a local report that Jaromir Jagr is close to joining the team.

According to the Edmonton Journal, a source says Jagr is close to finalizing a deal that would see him join the Oilers for the remainder of the season. However Jagr, who is playing with Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, would have to clear waivers before returning to the NHL.

The source would not divulge how soon Jagr would join the Oilers, how much the deal would be worth or the length of the rumoured contract.

Now that defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky is out for the season with a shoulder injury, the Oilers have enough room under the slary cap to accomodate such a move.

Currently, the Oilers sit in ninth place in the Western Conference, just behind the Vancouver Canucks and the eighth and final playoff spot.

Key to Tavares lies in $$$ (but not how you think)

In a season featuring nothing but drama (Burke saga, who will be traded, will they tank, etc) for Maple Leafs fans, I'm going to propose a simple plan that would give the leafs the absolute best chance at landing Tavares, and in turn - saving their season...and maybe the next 7 or so after that.
